Rosh Hashanah is a special holiday for the Jewish community, as it signifies the end of a year and the start of a new one. It reigns in a sweet new year. This Rosh Hashanah at my synagogue, my Rabbi’s sermon contained a message of pessimistic optimism. She talked about the struggles of infertility and pregnancy loss. She mentioned how it is an issue that is not always discussed in the same light as many others, simply because there is stigma surrounding women and childbirth, and men and childbirth. Our society is used to women not saying anything as it is their “job” to bear children and is used to men not saying anything as they are the “strong, resilient,” and historically “absent” parent.
