Yom Kippur

Oct 5, 2022

On Yom Kippur we say G’mar Chatima Tova. Which translates to, “may you be sealed in the book of life”. Not may your sins be forgotten or may you have a great year, but may your sins be recognized as sins and may you atone.

On Yom Kippur we say G’mar Chatima Tova. Which translates to, “may you be sealed in the book of life”. Not may your sins be forgotten or may you have a great year, but may your sins be recognized as sins and may you atone. In the speech made the president of our synagogue, she said essentially “what are you doing to help your community?” going back to the Jewis h Ideal of Tikkun Olam which means repairing the world. What are you doing to step away from the attention economy and use your power in the world for good? As I was sitting in synagogue longing for food and water I realized that substance is not everything in life. Life means more than pleasure for yourself.
